Kids & MusicI haven’t been adding songs to my Ukulele Page quickly enough, so this time I’m adding a chord sheet with two of the hoariest old storytime standbyes – “Old MacDonald” and “If You’re Happy & You Know It.” As always, I’m assuming that you’re a beginner, so I’m sticking to the three basic chords of C, F, and G7.

In case you’re used to doing “If You’re Happy” with all kinds of hand motions, I’ve learned that you can do just about any of them with a uke in hand. For example, when you reach “clap your hands,” you can slap your strumming hand against the uke’s soundhole and strings, which, if you practice, can make a soft “popping” sound. Have fun; be silly; get those kids singing.
